Moving around

Press the up arrow on your keyboard to move forward, the down arrow to move backward, and the left and right arrows to turn your view. Also, the Page Up and Page Down keys will allow you to look up and down respectively. There is no way to move using the mouse as the mouse controls the cursor and who or what you touch.

If you use the Page Up or Page Down keys to tilt your camera view, you can press the Home key to return the camera back to a normal level. The system will also automatically adjust your head tilt back to normal as you begin to move again. There is no way to move using the mouse because the mouse controls the pointer and who or what you touch.

Clickable items

As you move your mouse pointer, you'll see it will change from an arrow to a hand when there is something you can click on. When the hand icon is shown clicking (with the left mouse button) typically pops up an e-brochure or datasheet for the item.
If the clickable item is a web site, then globe icon will be displayed.
If it is a movie, the movie icon will be displayed.

If the item is a 3D model, clicking it may bring up the model in view mode allowing you to rotate the object. In some cases, right clicking may do different actions or pop up a context menu offering multiple choices.

E-brochures and other files

E-Brochures contain the details about any given product. They are designed to pop-up quickly and use a minimum of memory. Most e-brochures contain more than one page and can be navigated much like any web page by clicking on various items (usually underlined text or images).

To close an e-brochure (or any other file opened) click on the red X in the upper right corner. E-Brochures may be printed or saved by clicking the appropriate image at the bottom.

Clickable items may also be linked to other types of documents, including Adobe Acrobat files (PDF), and Excel spreadsheets. In these cases, Expo3D launches the required application. Simply close that application when you are finished viewing the document.

Manipulating 3D Objects

Clicking on a modeled 3D object switches you to 3D view mode with the particular model. In this mode you may rotate the model to any angle, or zoom in/out on the model, by clicking the desired control button in the lower left of the 3D window.

Once selected, manipulate the model by holding down the right mouse button and moving the mouse left/right and forward/backward. Close the view with the Close button (or press the ESC key).

Release the right mouse button to move the mouse pointer over various parts of the model. As you move the mouse, a tag displays showing the particular part the mouse is over. Left clicking may then open a detailed e-brochure or start an animation sequence within the model.

Videos

Some items may have videos linked to them and they will show the icon when available. Most videos however, are not actually contained in the show (especially if it was a downloadable show) but are actually links to a web site where the video may be streamed. In these cases, the video icon does not show, instead the globe icon will.

Web sites

Many items may have links to pages on a web site. In these cases the globe icon will show. Naturally, you must have an active Internet connection for any web site links to work.

Pre-recorded presentations

Some items may open a presentation containing multiple slides. Changing slides is done by clicking on the left or right arrow image at the bottom of each slide.
Exit a slide show presentation by clicking on the red X in the upper right corner.

Some presentations may include pre-recorded voice tracks attached to each slide. The current track is stopped when the slide is change, and the new one plays automatically. You may mute the sounds by clicking on the speaker icon located in the lower right corner of each slide.

Map & Exhibitor list (show directory)

A show directory and map view of the 3D world can be seen by clicking on the Map, then Map / Exhibitor List menu items. Once activated, you are transported to a bird's eye view of the world where you will have various new options available to you.

On the left will be a list of exhibitors (or other notable items). If you single click an exhibitor name in the list, the right side of the view will change to show the bouncing arrow over the newly highlighted exhibitor. Double clicking an an exhibitor name will teleport you directly to that exhibitor's booth. You may also single or double click the block in the 3D view to accomplish the same results.

You may manipulate the 3D map view by clicking on the arrow icons. One spins the world, the other zooms your view in or out. You may also use the free pad.

Using the FREE PAD

The 3D view can also be rotated and zoomed in a more interactive way by clicking and holding in the rectangular free pad area. Click on hold the left mouse button, and while holding, move the mouse. This will rotate the world in the view. To zoom the view, click and hold the right mouse button and move the mouse.

Closing the Map View

To close the map view and return to the show floor, click the green X button in the upper right corner of the map view.
