Live show dates

While this virtual trade show is designed to be usable and valuable without ever connecting to the Internet or joining the live show floor, most people will enjoy the extra interaction that the live floor provides. At any time, day or night, you may join the live show floor for the duration of the show, even if today is not one of the official live dates. In reality, the show is always live. However, the official live dates are those dates that the show sponsors have organized and those are the dates when you should find every exhibitor manning their booth. Live days provide you an excellent opportunity to communicate directly with show exhibitors and staff, not to mention you might get lucky and win one of the many drawings which might be held during these times.

Most booths have a Company News sign on which the exhibitor may indicate dates and times when their staff will be available live in the booth, in addition to the official live dates.

Joining a live seminar presentation

Expo3D™ features a built-in presentation system allowing a speaker to present powerful slide show presentations to a group of people. To attend a live seminar, you must wait in the room where the presentation will be held. When the speaker is ready they will send an invitation to join, which you must accept. If you are late, you may click on the speaker's avatar to join the presentation. If the presentation if being held in a conference room, sometimes walking into the room will cause an invitation to be sent to you even if you are late.

During the live presentation, the speaker controls the changing of the slides, not you, and using the microphone, he/she speaks about each slide. The system keeps everyone in sync.

Asking questions

While listening to a presentation, you may type questions as in any other text chat. The presenter may choose to answer now, or scroll back through all questions later. If you need to mute the sound, click the speaker icon in the bottom right of the slide control area. For pre-recorded slides, the presenter may also click this button to suppress the playing of the recorded voice for all attendees.

To leave the presentation, just close the window. If you are the presenter and leave it, the presentation will be shut down for all attendees as well.

Special Notes: If you invite a person to a voice chat, and that person is currently the speaker of a presentation, you will automatically be notified of such and that person will not receive the invitation.

If you click on a presenter's avatar intending to start a private chat, you will be notified that they are giving a presentation and will have the option of joining the presentation. If you do not join the presentation, a private text chat will be started. Keep in mind however, that since they are busy presenting, they may not notice your text messages right away, if at all.

Archived on-demand presentations

Live presentations may have been recorded for archival purposes by the speaker on the original live date. These archived presentations may be viewed later by clicking on some object in the world, or from an e-brochure link. Essentially this viewing would be a playback of the original live presentation, including the timing of the slides, the speaker's voice, and answers the speaker may have provided at the time.
